Child Contact Services

Supervised Child Contact Service, North Wales

What is SCCS?

SCCS is a service working to assist children maintain appropriate, safe contact with their parents and other family members where circumstances make it difficult to meet in any other way. We offer an agreed number of family contact sessions using venues in local communities across North Wales. We produce reports that will contribute to recommendations for any future contact, which puts the needs of the children first. At present all referrals come via the Children and Family Court Advisory Service (Cafcass Cymru).

How do we work?
Once our service receives a referral, a member of staff will meet with parents, separately, to discuss the contact arrangements. All contact sessions are closely observed by two members of staff and recorded in written format; these form the basis of the report produced at the end of the process. Arrangements can be made so that parents do not have to meet during the contact sessions. Staff provide support to both parents throughout the time they are with the service.

All staff are trained and work strictly to the service’s policies and procedures. We are an independent service and do not seek to take sides in any disputes parents may have regarding contact.
